About us

Our group

Art Session is a group of 16 young volunteers aged 18 to 25. They are students or young workers, from different backgrounds, who are active in the Centre Pompidou’s artistic projects.
The group, supervised by, Florence Morat, Project Manager in the Department of the Publics, is unique in France and aims to create a dialogue between young people on a national and international scale by organising events and forming creative collaborations.
Art Session allows you to develop your artistic knowledge but also be involved in concrete cultural activities like making podcasts, doing « cultural mediation », meeting artists, etc. The group also takes part in an international and ambitious programme which gives them the opportunity to get to know and work with other young volunteers, from various prestigious museums of Europe.

In 2007, young people from Art Session and Educational curators wrote together a statement of principles for Art Session.

Principles of Art Session :

  • Art Session is interested by modern and contemporary art because:
  • Art makes you think and reflect
  • Art engages the imagination
  • Art allows you to escape from the routine of life
  • Art allows you to communicate

Juliette

Hello, my name is Juliette. I am 22 years old and currently live in Paris. I have a little sister Luna, who will soon be three years old. I have always lived in France, but I have had the privilege of visiting many beautiful countries, such as Spain, Italy, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and Nepal… As far as my hobbies are concerned, I’m passionate about music: I’ve been taking singing lessons for ten years and I play the piano. I also love all forms of visual arts and I’ve participated in artistic projects since my childhood. Alongside my passion for art, I also keep busy with school, as I am working on a Master’s Degree on cultural politics. I’ve been in Art Session now for a year and a half!

MOUNIR

Mounir

Hey guys,

My name’s Mounir. Just yesterday I was 20 and I finally decided to leave my hometown, Toulouse, “La Ville Rose”. Today I’m 21, I live in Paris, and I’m studying Criminal Law at the Sorbonne, so that one day I’ll become a public prosecutor to fight the bad guys! For now, I’m an activity leader in the 15th district of Paris, helping young Parisians in their daily life (culture, sport, job). For me, Art Session is like a super galactic spaceship travelling through the artistic universe! Apart from that, I’m very curious and open-minded. To you guys who are reading this, I can’t wait to meet you!

I like to see exhibitions, go to festivals, travel etc. Art Session is a real opportunity for me and it’s really useful for my studies and helps me for my professional future. We are a very heterogeneous group and this is our strength, we learn a lot thanks to participative projects and thanks to meetings, and I hope to continue with future projects!

FABIO

Fabio

Hi my name’s Fabio. I’m 20 years old and I’m French with an Italian-Moroccan background. I’m currently in the first year of a degree in Cinema and Theatre at the Sorbonne. I like strawberries and birds, especially when they sing in the morning. I’ve been in Art Session for almost two years and, contrary to what all the statistics show, everything’s going well and we’re not breaking up, so no, Beigbeder! Love doesn’t last just two years.

I have a strong interest in cinema: Transformers, The Lord of the Rings, Rush Hour 2, and also the French reality TV programme, “Love is in the Meadows”. This is the cinema which captures our minds, but never without a good hot chamomile to hand. In life I intend to be a comedian because I feel that it’s my destiny. With Fernand Reynaud as my mentor, it can only lead to success.

JEANNE

Jeanne

Last year, while following an arts course, I joined the Art Session group, to develop my creativity and my artistic judgement. Giving my time to develop projects for the Centre Pompidou has been really useful, both for my work and for my own appreciation of culture.

Jessica

My name is Jessica  and I am 19 years old. LACOSTE

Lacoste

My name is Lacoste, I come from Seine Saint Denis in the Paris suburbs. I’m 19 now and will be 20 by the 18th March.

I’m a Pisces. I love writing. I’d love to write one day for the cinema or be a comedian or do both ideally. I like singing, dancing, walking… but all this by myself. My great passion is sport… Football, tennis, handball, but all this in front of my TV, obviously.

LUCAS

Lucas

Hello everyone! My name’s Lucas, I’m 20 years old and a student of Mathemetics and Computer Science. I’ve been in Art Session since October 2008, and my desire to meet new people and make new discoveries has never been stronger. It’s for these reasons, and my desire to find out about art, that I really love this group.

Regarding my hobbies, I love manga, you might say this is my main passion. I can actually spend two or three hours with a pile of manga, without stopping, devouring it all with great joy! Additionally, I like seeing my friends, and also my girlfriend, but that’s private… Also, I’m a person who loves to play video games, any game as long as it’s good and entertaining.  I love reading, and would like to write, but I’m a bad writer and my pen doesn’t allow it! Travel, too, is a big part of my life, because I think it’s a good way to become more open-minded and talkative !

I try to enjoy every second of my life. As Horace said: Carpe diem!!

MADJID

Madjid

Hi I’m Madjid! I’m 20 years old and I live in Paris. I’m currently studying literature but I’d like to go into law afterwards. I’ve been in the Art Session group for three years now. I joined the group because I’m interested in art and would like to expand my knowledge in the artistic field.

Participating in a group like Art Session allows me to assist with or co-organise exhibitions and events, to work with different artists, and to meet young people from different countries and backgrounds.

LUCIEN

Lucien

Good day or good evening, wherever you are ! My name’s Lucien, I’m 20 years old and I’m in the second year of fine arts college. I’ve been part of Art Session now for four years and I still really enjoy it.

Being passionate about art in general (music/cinema and other exhibitions), this project allows me to meet a lot of people and to share my views with people from all backgrounds.

ANNE

My name’s Anne, I’m 19, and currently in my first year at the ENSAD in Paris. Open and curious, I’m interested in all fields of art, photography, cinema, painting, hence my interest in the Art Session group.

Understanding art from a different point of view, going to meetings with artists and other young people, sharing ideas, constructing debates in a collective spirit are my mains motivations.
